Committed to improve its revenue generation and resource management, the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) strengthens its personnel’s competencies on strategic land use.

Farm managers and project leaders of the MMSU’s research, extension, and business (REB) directorates attended an enhancement training on farm management held at the University Function Hall last June 2.

They handle the rice farmlands, livestock, research experimental sites, technology demonstration farms, and various income generating projects of the university.

Dr. Carmelo J. Esteban, vice president for RBE, said the participants were trained on farm planning and budgeting, production and income-generating projects protocols, and simple bookkeeping for the projects aligned with financial protocols and needs.

Resource speakers were Dr. Oscar Agpaoa, OIC-vice president for administration and finance; Ms. Lenie G. Bayangos, director for business; and Ms. Melissa Antonio, staff of financial management services office.

The university started conducting the enhancement training for farm managers and project leaders last year.

It was designed to strategically plan and maximize land use for greater food productivity.

MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis said the improvement of the university’s land resources is part of the MMSU’s Land Use Development and Infrastructure Plan (LUDIP), dubbed as Sirmata 2040, which is being crafted this year.

“With more than 100 hectares of agro-industrial and more than 80 hectares for research and extension, making the most out of the land is a business we should be serious about,” Dr. Agrupis expressed, encouraging them to sustain the production of these land resources.

“Our activities must be recalibrated to bring about business and technology demonstration that will positively impact our stakeholders; and this king of efficiency and productivity must be manifested in all farm operations,” she added.
