CBEA team wins in nat’l biz case tilt

A group of senior students of the MMSU College of Business, Economics and Accountancy (CBEA) emerged champion in the first National Business Case Competition organized by the Northwestern University (NWU) in Laoag City last December 10.

Members were Arnold Ortiz (BS Accountancy), Julianne Marie Albano (BS Tourism Management), James Carlo Lucas (BS Business Administration major in Marketing Management), Christopher Ruiz (BS Economics) and Dhana Antonio (BS Business Administration major in Human Resources Management).

Awarded with Php 5,000 cash prize and a certificate, the CBEA group bested the nine groups from various schools in the country.

The other two finalists were from the University of Saint Louis in Tuguegarao and the Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges which finished second and third places, respectively.

Prof. Adrian Galapon, Prof. Emil James Tanagon and Ms. Mary Jean Tumamao served as coaches of the team.

In the competition, each team analyzed a case study, submitted a written executive summary, and presented their analysis.

With the theme, “Together Towards Tomorrow,” the national contest provided an opportunity to demonstrate the students’ capacity to solve challenging problems, and it served as an avenue to develop and promote innovative solutions to today’s business issues. (StratCom)
