By Daniel P. Tapaoan, Jr.
With the staging of the Watwat 6.0 this year, Mariano Marcos State University reaffirmed its commitment to ensure that its employees are in good shape to achieve more in the future.
This Friday, March 3, the MMSU Sports Complex was filled with the spirit of unity, joy, and sportsmanship as university personnel gathered for the action-packed sports festival.
“Truly, we must maintain our overall well-being and our solid unity to remain focused in achieving our vision,” expressed MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis during the opening program this morning.
Faculty and staff of the university participated in the dance warm-up and in various sports competitions such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, table and lawn tennis, track events, cycling, obstacle run, darts, aquatics, and Mobile Legends. Adding flavor to this year’s Watwat were indigenous games such as sack race, palengke kween, palo sebo, and fun run.
They were grouped into four teams, bearing different horse names. Team White Trojans is composed of personnel from CAFSD, CBEA, COL, and FEM Hall; team Green Unicorn – personnel from CASAT, CAS, COE, and Research Directorate; team Blue Mustangs – personnel from CHS, CIT, COM, Graduate School, and Extension Directorate; and, team Pegasus – personnel from CTE, Business Directorate, Physical Planning and Development office, and Security and Monitoring Services.
President Agrupis thanked the Faculty Association, Inc. headed by Dr. Marlina Lino, the Association of Non-Teaching and Administrative Personnel led by Mr. Gerard Ragudo, and the Center for Human Movement Studies headed by Prof. Rowell Tagatac “for making this activity happen amidst our busy campus life.”
