It was a fun-filled Friday at the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) main campus as university employees gathered for an action-packed sports festival dubbed “Watwat 5.0” last March 4.

“As I see everyone in our athletic uniforms, I see our unified spirit; and I am so proud because in MMSU, we keep achieving more because of this solid unity,” expressed University President Shirley C. Agrupis.

Teaching and non-teaching personnel of the University participated in various non-contact sports competitions including basketball skills challenge and shoot-out, badminton, table and lawn tennis, duathlon (bike and run), obstacle run, darts, and aquatics. A Mobile Legends tournament was also held.

The faculty and staff were grouped into four teams, bearing names of different COVID-19 vaccines and colors. Team AstraZeneca (Gold) is composed of personnel from CAFSD, CBEA, COL, and FEM Hall; team Moderna (Green) – personnel from CASAT, CAS, COE, and Research Directorate; team Pfizer (Blue) – personnel from CHS, CIT, COM, Graduate School, and Extension Directorate; and team Sputnik (Red) – personnel from CTE, Business Directorate, Physical Planning and Development office, and Security and Monitoring Services office.

The activity was organized by the Faculty Association, Inc. headed by Dr. Marlina Lino, Association of Non-Teaching and Administrative Personnel led by Mr. Gerard Ragudo, and the Center for Human Movement Studies (CHuMS) headed by Prof. Rowell Tagatac. The organizers assured that the minimum health protocols were strictly followed during the event.

Coinciding with the MMSU 44th Foundation Anniversary celebration, this annual activity also aims to promote health and well-being of university employees. (JVBT/DPTJ, StratCom)
