By Stephanie Camille Ilar
The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) recognized Mariano Marcos State University as the 10th top state university with the highest client-focused GAD budget expenditure for 2024.
The award, received by Gender and Development Director Nataliza Llapitan, was conferred on September 25 at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria in Quezon City.
MMSU was commended for the effective use of its GAD budget in advancing gender equality and women's empowerment through student-and community-focused projects and activities, including providing skills and livelihood training, offering technical assistance to partner agencies, and establishing support facilities for internal and external clients, such as lactation rooms in strategic locations across the campus.
Ms. Llapitan attributed the recognition to the concerted efforts of MMSU’s colleges and directorates in promoting and strengthening gender equality, equity, and justice in all aspects of university operations.
This award demonstrates the university’s commitment to maintaining gender-responsive budgeting and reinforcing programs that empower women and promote inclusivity.
