A researcher of the National Bioenergy Research and Innovation Center based in Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) emerged victorious in an international research conference organized by the Hong Kong Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering Society.

Engr. Nathaniel Ericson Mateo was cited as best presenter in the 5th International Conference on Bioenergy and Clean Energy (ICBCE) held in Singapore on April 22-24, 2022. Also the chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the MMSU College of Engineering, he presented a research study on nipa sap (nypa fruitican) as supplementary feedstock for bioethanol production in the Philippines. It was conducted in Pamplona, Cagayan.

Mateo competed in the marine environment and environmental chemical engineering category. His paper will also be published in the International Conference Proceeding, which is indexed by EI Compendex, Scopus, et al. Mateo’s research entry is among the 30 papers from 10 different countries which were selected for presentation by the organization’s reviewers and technical program committees.
