MMSU and ME (for the graduate)

In many morns as sunrise kissed the newborn day,
I passed through your twin gate along Paoay way;
gazing onward, I breathed in and filled my heart
with promise flowing from icon on pedestal high,
from the surging waters, too, of the twin founts
bidding me on to the carpet grass on scenic
commencement grounds.

I walked and left footprints on your catwalks,
I reviewed the aruo guards in my daily pass,
In mused moments, I paused and posed
To savor the sight of raep so tender green
or catch a glimpse of fingerlings a-flirting
in your ponds.

In queues, I navigated with friends the distance
to CAFSD, CBEA, Teatro, Oval on the eastward side,
treading the do-nou paths, up we held manuals
or knapsacks to protect lesson-laden heads
from noonday sun.

In a hurry twixt classes, we took the trikes,
they almost burst in fives to driver’s delight,
as heads bowed low and  limbs sought space,
we wondered just why econ and comfort
can’t combine.

Oh, the two-some e-jeeps in lemon green
they’re eco-friendly sans fume and horns,
quietly but quite slowly, they glide the lanes
for half the fare, notwithstanding the rounds.
Pray, give us more!

I savored Sirmata and cheered the pens
that dared praxis and bared  students’ woes;
I sat in councils and orgs, joined field trips,
great was our bonding aboard classy Rosa
or macho Hino.

I survived theories, formulas, and clearances;
and now  clad in cap and gown in a sea of such
in the embrace of sunflower and  chichirika blooms
down on carpeted sunken garden, we march and
sing of thy real glory as we swear to hold high
the green and gold: rainbow is the color
of tomorrow!
