“MMSU is truly the leading state university in the region when it comes to research and development.”

This is what Engr. Armando Q. Ganal, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Region 1 Director, has to say about the university’s dynamic R&D culture during the launch of MMSU’s research-based products at the Science and Technology Park today, April 27.

Commending MMSU’s bountiful harvest of research-based products, Engr. Ganal recognized MMSU’s initiatives in producing research-based technologies that help the community, not only in the province, but the whole country.

The director joined MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis in leading led the launch of the Black Garlic, Kamangeg Flour, Kamangeng Pacencia, pickled native egg, seaweed kroepeck and mango bread at the Food and Processing and Innovation Center Product Showroom.

Dr. Agrupis said the product launch is one of MMSU’s active efforts in promoting and commercializing its research technologies to potential investors and adaptors. A recent successful commercialization of university’s product was the Kamangeg Cheesecake which signed a licensing agreement with Taguipuro Paoay Lake Resort.

The launch was attended by officials of the Department of Trade and Industry and the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte.

Visitors from Calabanga Community College who are currently benchmarking with the university’s recent developments also joined the launch.

“We hope that many people will be able to learn about these technologies, and later on be encouraged to adopt and commercialize them in the future,” Ganal added.

With research as the quality engine of excellence in the university and a vehicle of service to the society, MMSU consistently organizes activities for Creative, Relevant, and Innovative Research Programs, one of its ACHIEVE agenda. (StratCom, HLY)
