MMSU hosts North Luzon studes confab

About 800 BS Electrical Engineer students and teachers from various universities in Regions I, II, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) convened at the MMSU Covered Court for the 15th Regional Schools Conference (RSCON) last September 25-27.

 

Cyrill Romeo D. Lagadan, president of the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE) - MMSU Chapter, said the regional conference was organized by the IIEE - National Chapter and the Regional Student Council Chapter, with the theme “IIEE 2019: Distinctive Journey in Advancing Global Competitiveness”. Sponsoring agencies were the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc., Ilocos Norte and Isabela Electric Cooperatives, Dream Force Review and Training Center, Phelps Dodge, and LEDS Clothing.

 

Lagadan said the RSCON was participated in by the MMSU, Northwestern University, and Divine Word College of Laoag in Ilocos Norte; Cagayan State University (CagSU), University of Cagayan Valley and University of Saint Louis – Tuguegarao in Cagayan; Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) in La Union; Isabela State University in Isabela (ISU); Saint Louis University in Baguio City; and Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU), Aldersgate College and Saint Mary University in Nueva Vizcaya.

 

The event was composed of competitions such as quiz show and math wizard, and talks on distribution system design, strategies for successful leadership, and value engineering solutions. Resource speakers were engineers John Rommel Abrigo, Eduardo D. Bocoboc, and
Jay Martin Y. Rubiano. 

 

At the close of the event, the team from DMMMSU emerged first place in the regional math wizard and quiz show; NVSU finished second in math wizard and third in quiz show; CagSU placed second in quiz show; and ISU landed third place in math wizard. Teams who landed first and second places will proceed to the national school conference for electrical engineers to be held in February 2020.

 

IIEE aims to upgrade the professional credentials of its members through the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs; enhance their social standing through the promotion of high ideals of integrity and ethics; facilitate advancement of technology transfer through carefully conceived educational and training programs; and provide opportunity for regular interaction among electrical practitioners.
