MMSU holds post-Chinese new year celebration
By Nina Christelle M. Sumintac
The Language Center of the university initiated a post-celebration of the Chinese New Year today, February 9, at the Center for Flexible Learning.
In collaboration with Beijing Phihua International Education Technology Co. Ltd. (PHIHUA) and Guangxi Medical College (GMC), the event served as a venue for MMSU students to experience the unique culture of China.
A total of 60 nursing, pharmacy, and physical therapy students of the College of Health Sciences participated in activities, such as writing of Chinese characters, lantern making, and singing of Chinese songs. Facilitators were the university’s Mandarin teachers. Currently, CHS and the Chinese partner institutions are working on faculty and student academic exchanges.
President Shirley C. Agrupis extended her greetings to the university’s agency-partners in China, saying, “We are one in celebrating with the Chinese people showing our strong connection with them.”
To recall, PHIHUA, GMC, and the university forged a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) last September 2022 which aims to establish a Chinese + Vocational Education Center at MMSU, and to collaboratively work for academic programs on language, and vocational education. (HLY/JVBT/SCO, StratCom)
