The Mariano Marcos State University's Cultural Development Advocates (MACD) and the National Commission of Indigenous People in Ilocos Norte collaborated to put up a photo exhibit featuring indigenous peoples. Titled "Pagkilala," the exhibit took place on October 26 at the MMSU University Library.

With the theme, "Pagpapayaman ng Pamanang Kultura at Katutubong Yaman Tungo sa mas Maliwaanag na Kinabukasan para sa Bagong Pilipinas," (Enrichment of Cultural Heritage and Indigenous Resources Towards a Brighter Future for the New Philippines), the event aimed to promote and celebrate the culture and values of indigenous communities in the province of Ilocos Norte. It also encouraged MMSU students to become members of the MACD organization to support this advocacy.

Ms. Cheryll Tabangay, the indigenous people mandatory representative in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Ilocos Norte, served as the guest speaker for the photo exhibit. During her address, she emphasized the importance of preserving and enriching the culture of indigenous groups in the province.

The event was graced by several guests, including OIC Atty. Jifford D. Rosqueta, NCIP Ilocos Norte provincial legal officer, Charmaine Gaspar, NCIP Dingras Civil Service Commission community development officer; Jeslie Manuel, NCIP Ilocos Norte tribal assistant; and, Reggie Lyn Tungapalan, NCIP DCSC tribal affairs assistant.

This activity is part of the celebration of the 2023 IP Month and the 26th Indigenous Peoples' Rights Act (IPRA). It aligned with the 7-point Agenda of MMSU, fostering a Vibrant and Engaging, Culturally-Focused University Campus. (HLY/JVBT, StratCom)
