Two student-athletes from MMSU clinched medals in the recently concluded State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) national games hosted by the Province of Tarlac of Region III.

Staycy Khaye Rodrigo, a fourth-year student of this university, got a silver medal for the High Jump – Women`s Division Finals. Janella Ballesteros also claimed a bronze medal in the Girls 100 LC Meter Freestyle.

A total of 115 delegates from MMSU attended the SCUAA national games. Sixty-five are student-athletes representing Region I.
The 16 regions competed in various sporting events from October 1 to 6. The event concluded with a total of 9 medals for Region I, placing the region in the 9th spot among the 16 regions.

For MMSU, Prof. Ryan Dean Sucgang, Director of the Center of Human Movement Studies commended the participants for their hard work in representing the region. He said that in future sports events, MMSU plans to make the training more inclusive and developmental.

“Training will be set as multidisciplinary in nature. This we will do to maintain Team Stallions as a formidable force in the national and global sports scenes, and for MMSU to become the mecca of sports, culture, and arts - along with health and wellness - in this part of Ilocandia,” Prof. Sucgang shared.

The National SCUAA Games is staged every two years. It was hosted by Antique Province of Western Visayas in 2018. The supposed 2020 edition was halted due to the pandemic. (HLY/JVBT, StratCom)
