Employees of the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) Accommodations Unit trained on basic life support and first aid to quickly respond to emergencies.

The three-day training, led by faculty members of the Department of Nursing, included cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), basic life support for environmental emergencies, first aid for foreign body obstructions, addressing medical emergencies like allergic reactions and cardiac arrests, and administering remedies for physical injuries.

MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis gives her support and keynoted the importance of the activity stating, "This training improves staff efficiency handling emergency healthcare challenges, and promotes guest safety in the university.”

Around 20 employees comprised the first group being trained from October 18 to 20. Another batch is scheduled to undertake the same program next week.

This initiative is in compliance with the provisions of the Tourism Act of 2009, known as RA No. 9593, as mandated by the Department of Tourism (DOT). It serves as an integral step towards DOT-accreditation for MMSU's accommodation facilities, including the Hostel, University Research Center, and the Mansion, through ensuring their adherence to the highest standards set by the DOT.

The university activity is in coordination with the Human Resource Management Office, and the Accommodations Unit of MMSU (HLY/JVBT, StratCom)
