By Stewart C. Ocampo
Dr. Shohei Ohgi, president of the Seirei Christopher University (SCU) in Shizuoka, Japan, visited Mariano Marcos State University today, February 23, to further expand the partnership between the two universities.
The SCU president is visiting MMSU to identify additional areas of collaboration to the existing memorandum of understanding that was signed by the two universities in 2021.
This morning, Dr. Ohgi was welcomed by MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis before proceeding to the College of Health Sciences. They were joined by Dr. Arlene Gonzales, chief for international programs, Prof. Ryan Dean Sucgang, CHS OIC-dean, Prof. Myra Lampitoc, chairperson of the physical therapy department, and Ms. Audrey Viloria, faculty member.
PSCA said she is humbled to accommodate Dr. Ohgi in the campus. She expressed interest in partnering with the Japan university on its international development studies in basic education, telenursing, and values formation.
Dr. Ohgi will also visit partner hospitals and clinics in Ilocos Norte where the SCU physical therapy students are currently having their clinical externship. On the side, he will explore tourism attractions in the towns of Burgos, Bangui, Paoay, and the City of Batac.
MMSU and SCU are enhancing their health sciences programs through the exchange of faculty and scholars, academic information and materials, and periodic academic publications. (HLY/DPT, StratCom)
