CHED scholars of MMSU receive stipend

By Stephanie Camille Ilar
To formally orient new grantees, the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 1 (CHED RO1) conducted a contract signing and scholarship orientation with its new scholars from the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) on October 9 at the Conference Hall of the FEM Hall.
Eight MMSU students qualified under three scholarship programs: Scholarship Program for Future Medical Technologists and Pharmacists (MTP-SP) with four new scholars, the CHED Merit Scholarship Program (CMSP) with three, and the Scholarship Program for Coconut Farmers and their Families (CoScho) with one.
During the orientation, Ms. Catherine Chan, Education Supervisor II of CHEDRO1, presented an overview of the three scholarship programs. She discussed the eligibility requirements, scholar responsibilities, mode of financial assistance distribution, and other benefits that scholars may receive, provided they meet the requirements and responsibilities.
Ms. Chan also shared their experiences while evaluating scholarship applicants, while the scholars and their parents expressed appreciation for the opportunity and shared insights about their application journey and motivations for pursuing the grants.
The activity was organized by the Scholarships and Financial Assistance Unit of the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) through Chief Carina Raquel dela Cruz. Also witnessing the event were Dr. Karen Raidis Marcelino, College Secretary of the College of Health Sciences (CHS), and Reynaldo Coloma, Jr., Pharmacy Department Chair.
