CAFSD team bags grand prize in video tilt

A group of students from the MMSU College of Agriculture, Food and Sustainable Development (CAFSD) won in a video-making contest organized by the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (INEC) as part of its 50th anniversary this year.

Kayle Franchette Nacion, Krizell Ann Guillermo, Rovic Jake Dela Cruz, Jewell Mae Cabradilla, and Princess Primrose Marie Del Prado, development communication (DevCom) students, bagged the Php 20,000 grand prize, outshining the other five groups in the contest.

The CAFSD students received their reward at the INEC building in Laoag City last October 5.

Nacion, team leader, said their video entry highlighted the benefits of the electric cooperative to the community. She added Prof. Love Grace Campano of the Department of Dev Com guided them in the production of the material.

The INEC selected the winning entry based on the videos’ concept relevance, cinematography or videography, and screen play.

INEC’s Board of Directors President Pacifico Ruiz said the MMSU group’s winning video entry “is a big help for us to build the image of the cooperative.”

Meanwhile, another group of DevCom students at MMSU – Mario Acosta, Guiller Lopez, Shaina Beth Robles, Lira Gonzales, Vina Lea Morales, and Mary Christina Labangcop – got Php 3,000 consolation prize in the same contest.

The video-making contest was among the INEC’s anniversary activities that revolved around the theme, “50 years of Rural Electrification: Sparking Rural Development and Progress for Member-Consumer-Owners.” (StratCom)
