ANTAP holds enhancement training cum learning visit

SOME 243 members of the Association of Administrative Non-Teaching Personnel (ANTAP) participated in the Enhancement Training Cum Learning Visit in May.

The training aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of non-teaching personnel for better delivery of their services to clients and was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the University Center for Gender and Development, Extension Directorate, and ANTAP.   It had two components: 1) lecture on employee welfare cum team building and values education; and 2) learning visit to neighboring state universities and colleges.

In the training, lawyer Brian Jay Corpuz, director of the Administrative Services Division, discussed employee benefits; lawyer Ramon Leaño, vice president for administration and business, explained the strategic performance management system; Dr. Cristina Johnson, chief for program accreditation and quality assurance, handled team building; and Mr. Rodel Reyes, guidance counselor of CAS, spoke on values re-orientation.

To complement the knowledge learned from the training, the participants, who were divided into two groups, went on a learning visit to Benguet State University in La Trinidad, Benguet (first batch) and  Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija (second batch).  Here, they were given a chance to observe the projects and activities of the non-teaching staff of the host SUC, including their research, extension, and income generating projects and learn from their best practices.

Joselito Cacayorin, Phoebe Pasion, and Joanalyn Vertido, who served as tour coordinators of the second group’s visit to CLSU, expressed their gratitude to the MMSU administration officials for the opportunity given to them.  They said they were able to pick up some points which the can be adopted for the ANTAP re-entry.

The UCGAD and the Extension Directorate have continued to conduct capability building trainings to improve the work capabilities of non-teaching personnel, specifically those with multi tasks. In fact, a building wiring and maintenance training will be conducted in July to enhance the competence of laborers and allied staff of the university’s physical plant and general services.
