Commodore Marcos Imperio, the Commander for Communications, Electronics and Information Systems Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CEISSAFP), visited Mariano Marcos State University on January 23, to show gratitude to the University that played a pivotal role in shaping his career. He was a graduate of the MMSU Electrical Engineering program in 1990.

MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis and Prof. Herdy L. Yumul, director of the Office for Strategic Communication, welcomed the proud alumnus in a courtesy call. The Philippine Navy officer shared how the University contributed to his personal and professional development and expressed his appreciation to Dr. Agrupis for allowing him to reconnect with MMSU.

Commodore Imperio and his team visited various facilities of MMSU, including the Research, Development, and Extension buildings. They were accommodated by Dr. Eva Jean Y. Viernes, chief of the internship coordinating office, and Dr. Sheila Baquiran, accommodations chief.

As a MMSU student, Imperio worked as a university security guard to finance his studies. In 2022, he was appointed by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. as commander for CEISSAFP, which is a military unit that handles the information and communications technology requirements of all the naval bases or units in cooperation with the other branches of service of the AFP.
