ILOCOS NORTE Governor Michael Marcos Keon on July 14 signed a memorandum of agreement with President Miriam E. Pascua on the granting of scholarship to qualified and deserving high school graduates certified and recommended by the Ilocos Norte Sports Development Council (INSDC) based on their track record in the Ilocos Region Athletic Association, Palarong Pambansa, and other regional, national, and international sports competitions.
Named \"MMSU-INSDC Provincial Government Athletic Scholarship Grant\", the grant will be jointly managed and administered by MMSU and the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte including the selection and determination of grantees.
The grant started implementation this school year. Qualifiers were initially granted 100 percent exemption from tuition fees unless disqualified later in accordance with rules and policies.
To qualify for the grant, a high school graduate must: have a grade point average of at least 80; pass the CFAT cut-off score and other qualifying examinations for the program choice; be a Filipino citizen; not be a recipient of other external scholarship grants; be physically and mentally healthy; and be of good moral character and reputation.
The MOA also provides that the extent of the grant shall be subsequently adjusted after participation and winning in any SUC-recognized competition. The grantee who wins gold shall have 100 percent tuition fee exemption; silver, 75 percent; and bronze, 50 percent.
