To ensure that the learning environment of student boarders is safe and conducive, the Office of Student Services and Development (OSSD), in coordination with the local government of Batac, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Department of Health, conducted on May 28 a monitoring activity on the conditions of dormitories, apartments and boarding houses being availed by students both inside and outside the university.
The areas that were inspected include health and drinking facilities, canteens, comfort rooms, bed capacity, and lodging fees. Also checked were the establishments’ compliance with building regulations and ordinances, fire protection measures, and business permits.
Around 50 establishments were visited by the team composed of Ronald John P. Gabriel and Ella May Castro of the Business Permits and Licensing Section of the Local Government of Batac; Insp. Dennis C. Bacnat of the Bureau of Fire Protection; Anne Bernadette C. Samsam of the Batac Health Office; Prof. Henedine A. Aguinaldo, OSSD director; and Reynalda L. Samson, MMSU chief of accommodation, dormitories, and rentals.
The result of the inspection, which was conducted pursuant to a CHED Regional Memorandum Order, will be forwarded to the agency’s regional office in the City of San Fernando, La Union.
