Sanut Ilokano app gets Anvil Award
Sanut Ilokano, an interactive literacy application, co-developed by MMSU and Smart Communications, was recognized during the 55th Anvil Awards.
Prof. Lee Carlo Simon, the MMSU project team head of the app development, joined the Smart team in receiving the award last February 28 at The Manila Hotel, Ermita, Manila.
Dr. Aurelio Agcaoili, consultant of the project and MMSU's expert partner on Ilokano language and literature from the University of Hawaii - Manoa, also joined the team during the awards night.
Sanut Ilokano (Ilokano Wisdom) was developed through the storyboarding, scriptwriting, digitization and animation of AB Communication and BS Computer Science students of the university.
It is a part of Smart's program dubbed as #LearnSmart Apps: Improving Literacy and Improving Local Culture through Mother Tongue-based Apps. The application contains songs, stories, numbers and the alphabet to teach kids about the Ilokano language and to address the lack of educational content written in the mother tongue.
Anvil Awards is annually held by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines to recognize the country's outstanding PR programs and tools.
