By Daniel Tapaoan, STRATCOM Correspondent
The Professional Regulatory Board of Food Technology (PRB-FT) conducted a blended ocular inspection and monitoring visit of the BS Food Technology (BSFT) program of the MMSU College of Agriculture, Food, and Sustainable Development (CAFSD) on September 10.
The review assessed the program's facilities, faculty profile, board examination performance, and measures taken to address deficiencies from its February 2024 visit.
PRB member Hon. Remedios Baclig, commended the Department of Food Science and Technology (DFST) for substantial compliance with CHED policies, standards, and guidelines and announced an on-site inspection in 2026 for the program’s Certificate of Compliance.
MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr., reaffirmed the university's commitment to academic excellence and professional readiness, while DFST Chairperson Buchard Cutin thanked the Food Innovation Center, Food and Nutraceutical Research Center, and the MMSU administration, specifically PJM, CAFSD Dean Charlie Batin, and VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Aris Reynold Cajigal, for supporting the activity.
The event was also attended by CAFSD College Secretary Hazel Achuela, CAS Dean Marlina Lino, PRC Ilocos Norte Service Center Team Leader Joy T. Sucgang, and DFST faculty members.
Created under Republic Act No. 11052 (Philippine Food Technology Act), PRB-FT is mandated to regulate, license, and advance the food technology profession in the Philippines.
