Portrait of a valedictorian
LIKE A normal college student, Jude Patrick F. Cabading just wanted to work hard to earn a degree so that he could land a good teaching job after graduation.
However, his perseverance gave him even more than he had expected. Today, he graduates with flying colors, a record parallel to what his eldest sister Krisdionne Jureya achieved in 2012. To him, this is now the beginning of a bright future that he and his family dreamed of.
His success was attributed to his well-organized study habits and his unsurpassed credentials. He was editor-in-chief of the CTE Bulletin, the official college publication of the College of Teacher Education, for two consecutive years.
As a university scholar, he became an Erasmus Mundus Scholar, or simply called an Exchange Student Teacher to Palawan State University- College of Teacher Education, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. This is a program of the National Network of Normal Schools where MMSU-CTE is one of the members.
Because of his academic excellence and strong leadership, he became the recipient of the following awards during the MMSU-CTE Silaw Awards, an annual recognition program of the college: Academic Excellence Award, Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Award, Most Outstanding Student in Journalism, Outstanding Student in Visual Arts, Outstanding Student in Community Services and Extension, Outstanding Student in Ilokano, Outstanding Student in Public Speaking, and Leadership Award.
Born on July 28, 1994 at Brgy # 1 Canaan, Badoc, Ilocos Norte, Jude Patrick is the second of the three children of Julio and Rosalyn Cabading. Julio is a laborer of MMSU assigned at the Physical Plant and General Services Division, while Rosalyn is a teacher at the Juan Luna Memorial Academy in Badoc, Ilocos Norte.
The Cabading family is a producer of bright students. The eldest, Krisdionne Jureya F. Cabading, graduated in BS Accountancy (MMSU Class 2012) as magna cum laude and was also the class valedictorian. She is now a Certified Public Accountant working as Assurance Senior Associate of the Sycip Gorres Velayo and Co., the largest professional services firm based in Makati City.
The other son, Jerick Andrew F. Cabading, recently graduated from high school with honors. He plans to take up BS Civil Engineering at the MMSU College of Engineering.
Jude Patrick’s success is attributed to his guiding principle that God is always here to guide him as long as he puts all his trust in Him.
