The MMSU Innovation and Technology Directorate has been recognized as one of the top six finalists in this year’s Government Best Practices Recognition (GBPR) out of a competitive pool of 69 submissions nationwide. GPBR is an initiative under the Development Academy of the Philippines’ (DAP) Government Quality Management Program (GQMP).

The university’s best practice titled “MMSU Innovation and Technology: Forging the Path from Research to Market” gained national acclaim for showcasing how research outputs can be effectively transformed into market-ready solutions. This effort not only advances economic opportunities but also promotes the practical application of research for community benefit.

MMSU OIC-President Dr. Prima Fe R. Franco expressed her gratitude and excitement for the university’s recognition. “This is a proud moment for MMSU as it reflects the hard work and dedication of our academic and research teams. Our initiative demonstrates that research is not just about innovation but also about making an impact on the lives of the people we serve,” she expressed.

Meanwhile, MMSU Innovation and Technology Director Dionisio Bucao, highlighted the importance of collaboration in achieving this recognition. “This award is not just for MMSU, but for everyone who has been part of our journey—from researchers to community partners. It proves that strong partnerships and a clear vision can lead to significant and sustainable outcomes,” he stated. He also reiterated the university’s commitment to strengthening innovations that directly address societal challenges.

The finalists were chosen based on several key criteria, including the level of deployment, innovation, performance outcomes, evidence supporting the best practice, replicability, sustainability, and planned next steps. Other finalists include the Municipal Government of Narra, Quezon City General Hospital, the Local Government Unit of Koronadal, the 208th Tactical Helicopter Squadron of the Philippine Air Force, and the Quezon City Government.

Former Civil Service Commission Chairperson Alicia Dela Rosa Bala, DAP Acting Senior Vice President for Services Dr. Alan Cajes, and Medport Distributor Inc. Director Raymond Tan, served as panel of judges for the final presentations.

During the Government Quality Management Program Conference held from November 19 to 20 at the DAP Conference Center in Tagaytay City, the finalists were recognized for their initiatives that enhance efficiency, inclusivity, and community engagement. Themed "Beyond Quality Management, Advancing to Public Service Excellence", the conference brought together key stakeholders and professionals from various sectors to exchange ideas and share best practices in public service improvement.

With MMSU’s recognition as a finalist, the university has once again solidified its position as a trailblazer in research and innovation-driven public service.
