<font style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-weight: bold;\" size=\"5\">New designations bared <br></font>

FOUR FACULTY members, including former president Saturnino M. Ocampo Jr., have been designated to handle separate posts in memoranda released by President Pascua in the last three months.

Dr. Ocampo, fifth MMSU president and former commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education, was named program coordinator for the agriculture and fisheries education system of the university.  The former president has returned to MMSU after his three-year stint as CHED commissioner to serve as university professor.

On the other hand, Reynold P. Villacillo, computer science instructor of the College of Arts and Sciences, was appointed Aug. 13 to serve as acting director of the Information and Communication Training Center. He recently finished his M.S. in Information Technology from the De La Salle University last summer.

Moreover, Dr. Cristina B. Coloma, professor of the College of Business, Economics, and Accountancy, was designated chief of a newly created section – Program Accreditation and Quality Assurance – under the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. As chief of the new section, Coloma is expected to perform the following duties:  serve as liaison between the university and AACCUP and other accrediting bodies for all accreditation/evaluation activities of MMSU; coordinate with college deans regarding the university’s application for accreditation and evaluation of the various degree programs including application for centers of development/excellence; oversee the preparation of supporting documents/exhibits including program performance profile and institutional portfolio and ensure that these contain the complete and appropriate information, and that these are well-written and appropriately packaged;   orchestrate the various activities during survey visits – be it for accreditation, evaluation or validation purposes; consolidate and store university-wide accreditation/evaluation documents making them readily available upon request of concerned colleges; develop innovative approaches for speedy, cost-efficient, and organized preparation and packaging of required documents; and implement programs that would enhance the capability of both faculty and administrative personnel in attending to accreditation/evaluation activities.

Earlier, engineer Nathaniel R. Mateo, mechanical engineering instructor of the College of Engineering, was appointed acting chief of the Motorpool in view of the scholarship of engineer Romaric G. Ascano.

Dr. Resurreccion M. Mateo, on the other hand, was designated acting chief of the Distance Education and Instructional Materials Unit under the Office of the Dean for Instruction. This is in view of the resignation of Dr. Frederick F. Rodrigo. As chief, she is tasked to coordinate the conduct of research studies on the faculty members’ training needs of instructional materials design and development and facilitate the orientation programs on the distance delivery mode of instruction in each academic unit, among other duties and responsibilities.
