MMSU produces 34 new PTs

A big haul in a single cast.

This aptly describes the feat that the MMSU-CHS Physical Therapy (PT) Department has accomplished during the recent Licensure Examinations for Physical Therapists administered by the Professional Regulation Commission’s Board of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy on August 5-6 in Manila.

Of the 43 examinees who took the test, 34 passed, garnering an institutional passing rate of 79.07 percent which is higher than the 62.8 percent national passing. The passers were among the 802 who made the test out of 1,277 examinees throughout the country. Incidentally, this is the highest number of examinees that the PT Department has fielded since August 1998.

“With the most number of those who took the exams, and considering that they only had two months of formal review, this is surely a great accomplishment for the PT department,” said PT chair Cheryll Didi Obra.

Also, Francis Clarence Chua, one of the passers, said “the exam was relatively easy but tricky. We attribute our success to God and to MMSU.”

MMSU is the only state-run higher education institution (HEI) that offers the PT program outside Metro Manila. It has already produced hundreds of professional PTs and 13 topnotchers. (By Ryan Dean T. Sucgang)
