MMSU to capacitate math teachers of Catholic schools

Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) and the Diocese of Laoag Catholic Educational System (DLCES) have partnered to enhance the skills of mathematics teachers through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed on July 29 at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Hall.
The agreement, signed by Rev. Msgr. Tito Romeo Bunoan, DLCES superintendent, and Dr. Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr., MMSU president, primarily aims to jointly implement the extension project called “MathTuruan Tayo.”
The project aims to enhance the mathematics teaching skills of educators in DLCES through lectures, training, and capacity-building activities. It also seeks to promote collaboration among educators and develop problem-solving learning materials.
This initiative is a collaborative effort of the MMSU Extension Directorate, the Master of Science in Mathematics program of the Graduate School, and Catholic schools in the Diocese of Laoag.
Dr. Manzano recognized the partnership as a testament to both institutions’ commitment to continuous learning and knowledge-sharing, especially in mathematics education. “May this initiative build a stronger relationship between MMSU and its partners in the private education sector,” he said.
Present during the signing from DLCES were James Paul Acuna, assistant superintendent and principal, and Jeny Vie Gamet, assistant to the school director, both from Immaculate Conception Academy in the City of Batac.
Also in attendance were MMSU Extension Director Marlowe Aquino and faculty members from the mathematics program of the Graduate School.
