MMSU bags 2 awards
THE MMSU Extension Directorate won silver and bronze awards at the close of the 3rd National Multi-Sectoral Extension Services Convention held April 5-7 at the University of Northern Philippines (UNP), Vigan City.
The research study, Challenges and Opportunities in the Use of Radio Broadcast in Communicating for Development: The Case of MMSU’s School-on-the-Air (SOA) for Sustainable Garlic Production won the silver award (second place), while the paper Oyster Mushroom Production: Livelihood from Good Fungi won a bronze (third place).
The first paper was authored by Mercy Fausta Gaño, Sherlyn Nicolas, Bella C. Gervacio, Aris Reynold Cajigal, Celerino Ancheta, Sosima Demandante, and Glen Deo Valdez, while the latter was authored by Bella Gervacio, Cajigal, Nicolas, Gaño, Demandante and Roque Mangoma. The two papers were among the 11 entries which vied for the best extension practices in the agriculture and fisheries category in the entire country. The first paper was presented by Dr. Nicolas, while the second one was tackled by Gervacio.
The 3rd national convention was organized and hosted by UNP with the theme: Academe-Industry Partnership: New Trend in Extension Service Delivery. The activity aimed to provide the participants with working knowledge and skills in strategic approaches on academe-industry partnership in the delivery of extension programs/projects, and activities, and enable them to assess and appreciate the impact of various extension programs. The papers presented were the best practices in the extension delivery system in MMSU.
