MMSU still overall champ in reg’l culture and arts fest

Reigning supreme for the 18th time, Mariano Marcos State University prevailed as overall champion anew in the 2022 regional Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) Culture and Arts Festival.
Hosted by the Pangasinan State University (PSU) on November 21-25, the MMSU Stallion artists bested the five state universities and colleges in the region with a total score of 75 points.
The MMSU team emerged first place in instrumental solo, show choir, and short and sweet play; second place in on-the-spot poster-making, folk dance, and contemporary dance; and third place in pop solo.
In the regional pageant, Michael Christophe Agustin (B Secondary Education IV) was crowned Mr. PASUC-1 2022 while Lucky Charm Palting (BS Tourism II) was adjudged as Ms. PASUC-1 2022 First Runner Up.
PSU Golden Lions, the closest rival of MMSU for this year’s festival, garnered 67 points. It was followed by the Don Mariano Marcos State University Stingers at third place, 49 points; University of Northern Philippines Sharks at fourth place, 37 points; North Luzon Philippines State College Tigers at fifth place, 32 points; and the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College Panthers at sixth place, 27 points.
MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis congratulated the Stallion artists for upholding the MMSU’s supremacy in PASUC-1. She also lauded the coaches and the Center for Human Movement and Studies (CHuMS) for all their efforts to prepare the university contenders for the festival.
At the helm of the MMSU campaign for the culture and arts fest is CHuMS director Rowell Tagatac, with cultural development chief Maybelline Sta. Maria as co-head. Now retired, Prof. Arsenio Gallego, the longest serving CHuMS director, served as consultant. (HLY/JVBT/DPTJ, StratCom)
