MMSU hosts virtual English Language Fellow
By JOHN VINCENT B. TORIBIO
With the persistent move to internationalize its programs, the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) is hosting an English Language Fellow to serve as a lecturer to various undergraduate students and webinars.
Ms. Carla Bailey, a training specialist from Cuhayoga Community College, Ohio, USA, currently serves as lecturer for AB in English Language (ABEL) and Master of Arts in English Language and Literature (MAELL) students on semantics of English and language test construction and evaluation.
Also, she is holding a webinar series with eight sessions on English language competencies until December. Specifically, she discusses the following topics: a) ESL writing made easy; b) critical thinking skills in English; c) principles of exemplary teaching of English learners; d) engagement and motivation; e) speaking and listening class lessons; f) how the internet and culture has changed the English vernacular; g) strategies for virtual teaching; and, h) free – low and no tech ways to create interactive class lessons.
MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis expressed gratitude to the US embassy for the continued opportunities being offered to the university saying that MMSU “will always take all of these academic ventures meaningfully and proactively.”
This first-ever Virtual EL Fellowship is a result of the dynamism of the Office of External Linkages and Partnerships headed by Dr. Mee Jay Domingo. (StratCom)
