MMSU Health and Wellness Building opens

By Michael Visaya

The MMSU Health and Wellness Building, which houses four health and wellness centers, was officially inaugurated on July 02, 2025, led by MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr.
Located strategically west of the College of Medicine and north of the College of Health Sciences, the facility includes the Primary Care, Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Center, Psychological Assistance and Training Center, and the University Infirmary, offering medical and dental services.

The construction of the facility, initiated in 2021 by former MMSU president and current CHED chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, aims to provide basic health care and medical services to both the university and the community.

During the official opening and blessing, Dr. Manzano emphasized his ongoing support for the university’s health and wellness programs, also noting the donation of a patient transport vehicle from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.

“The university will ensure more development in this facility to make it more state-of-the-art. Let this facility be a place where we can really heal,” he said.

Dr. Manzano also acknowledged the consistent achievements of the College of Health Sciences and the College of Medicine, particularly in their board exam performances, emphasizing that providing these colleges with improved facilities and ongoing development projects reflects the university's support.

Additionally, Dr. Maria Theresa Raras, director of health and wellness services, expressed her gratitude to the university administration for supporting the construction of the facility, which will benefit students, employees, and the community alike.

Present at the event were Vice President for Administration and Finance Fides Bitanga, Vice President for Resource Generation and Management Bjorn Santos, Primary Health Care Facility Chief Mayla Veronica Madrigal, and college deans.
