Students of the MMSU College of Teacher Education (CTE) bagged two championship titles at the International Business Administration Seminar, Exhibition, and Competition (BASE ON) 2.0, organized by Politeknik Negeri Bali, Indonesia. The students won in two categories: the International Business Pitching Competition 2.0 and the International Digital Content Creation Competition 2.0 which were held virtually from November 25 to 29.
The winners of the International Business Pitching Competition 2.0 were Ronwell Johnloyd Camacho, Decster Baptista, and Carlos Miguel Curimao, all senior students in the BTLEd-ICT program. Their project, “AgriBot: Pest Detection for Healthier Crops and Richer Soil,” aims to reduce pesticide use by detecting pests and diseases, thus improving both crop health and the environment.
The champions of the International Digital Content Creation Competition 2.0 were Angela Kaye M. Alonzo, Jenica Monteloyola, and Krista Mae Rumbaoa, also senior BTLED-ICT and BTLED-HE students. Their entry, titled “Ilocos Norte, Philippines: Where Green Tourism Begins,” featured the Bangui Windmills as a symbol of sustainable tourism and renewable energy in the region.
The students were guided by Dr. Regie Boy Fabro, chair of the Technical-Vocational Livelihood Education Department, with support from Dr. Gina Sylvia S. Gaoat, CTE student affairs and services coordinator, and Prof. Jeanette Dials, chief of international faculty and student mobility.
CTE Dean Aris Reynold Cajigal commended the students' achievements and the guidance provided by the faculty. He said, "The consistent performance of MMSU-CTE students in international competitions reflects the tradition of excellence we have maintained over the years."
BASE ON 2.0 is an annual event that provides students with opportunities to develop their skills, expand their networks, and gain real-world professional experience. The theme for this year’s event was “Green Business Sustainability Through Collaboration, Creativity, and Inclusivity.”
