MMSU continues to give Nipahol, face masks

The Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) continues to distribute Nipahol and face masks to the community checkpoints in Laoag City.

Yesterday, the MMSU COVID-19 Task Force distributed twenty liters of alcohol to barangay checkpoints in San Mateo, Lataag, Pila-West and South, Navotas-A, Dibua-South, Casili, Santa Maria, Santa Cayetana, and in the boundary of San Lorenzo and San Joaquina.

Aside from these, the Task Force also rationed to two major checkpoints in the city.

Along with alcohol, the team also gave 100 pieces of face masks to the said recipients.

Dr. Cesario Pacis, the dean of the College of Industrial Technology (CIT), led the distribution. He was accompanied by Dr. Robert Salvador and Prof. Ferdinand Huenda, the chairpersons of the departments of Industrial Technology and Automotive Technology.

It can be remembered that another twenty liters of Nipahol and 150 pieces of face masks were given to other community checkpoints in the city last April 2.

Nipahol is 70% ethyl alcohol produced by MMSU’s National Bioenergy Research and Innovation Center (NBERIC). It is formulated from the university’s 95% alcohol, a product of its research initiatives on ethanol.

Meanwhile, the face masks were produced by the CIT, with Prof. Elia Ubaldo being the project leader of the Garments Production.

The continued distribution of Nipahol and face masks is a part of the MMSU Saranay against COVID-19, the university’s multi-faceted program that utilizes its current technologies to help combat the spread of the coronavirus.  (StratCom)
