One hundred eighty-two graduates receive their certificates and diplomas today, March 28, 1:30 p.m., as the university holds the joint elementary and high school graduation exercises at the Teatro Ilocandia located at MMSU’s main campus in Batac. Niña Corpuz Rodriguez, ABS-CBN reporter, will serve as guest of honor and speaker.
Josephine E. Mina of the Laboratory High School (LHS)-Science Curriculum (SC) in Batac, Therese Franz B. Reyes of LHS-Laoag, and Karyl Angelu A. Borromeo of the Laboratory Elementary School lead this year’s batch of graduates.
Laboratory High School-Science Curriculum
Mina, daughter of Engineer and Mrs. (Rose Francis E. Mina of CTE-LES) Julius Mina of Brgy. 15, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, obtained a general weighted average (GWA) of 1.30684 to become the LHS-SC class valedictorian. She is also the highest achiever in biology, physics, mathematics, computer science, social science, Filipino, and English, and recipient of the Gerry Roxas Leadership Award.
Tristan U. Villanueva, getting a GWA of 1.43094, graduates as salutatorian of the class and highest achiever in chemistry and TLE-agriculture. She is also recipient of the Co-Curricular Excellence Award.
Following Mina and Villanueva in the honor list are: Emil James P. Tanagon, first honorable mention (1.46095) and highest achiever in science research; Martha Louise Aurora C. Medina, second honorable mention (1.48484) and highest achiever in MAPEH; and Cyrus D. Bumanglag, third honorable mention (1.49214) and highest achiever in TLE-agriculture.
Graduating \"with distinction\" are: Erika Joy L. Calubaquib (1.49764), Mari Bernadette Gail A. Opelac (1.49941), Paola Irish M. Vinoya (1.51603), Nathalie Claire R. Abarquez (1.52304), and Arjay M. Bareng (1.52854).
Calubaquib is also recognized as highest achiever in TLE-agriculture; Vinoya – highest achiever in MAPEH and recipient of the Co-Curricular Excellence Award; and Abarquez – highest achiever in TLE-home making.
Also cited as highest achiever in MAPEH and TLE-home making are Hannah Lois C. Paraoan and Shermaine C. Abut, respectively.
Laboratory High School-Laoag
Therese Franz B. Reyes, a resident of Brgy. Cabungaan, Laoag City and daughter of Engineer and Mrs. Glenn Reyes tops this year’s batch of 54 LHS-Laoag graduates. Graduating \"with honors\", she obtained a GWA of 92.0631. She is also the highest achiever in Filipino, social studies, English, and science and recipient of the Scholastic Excellence Award, the Gerry Roxas Leadership Award, and the Mercury Drug Award for Excellence in Science.
Karmela F. Marquez also graduates \"with honors\" coming in second with a GWA of 90.9940.

Butac is also recognized as highest achiever in MAPEH and mathematics and recipient of the Mercury Drug Award for Excellence in Mathematics. Silvestre is further cited as highest achiever in MAPEH and recipient of the A.Y. Foundation Award for National Discipline and the Class Discipline Award.
The Excellence in Co-Curricular Activities Award goes to Daduyo while the Chief Girl Scout Medal Scheme Award is given to Jilian Pearl R. Pacis.
Laboratory Elementary School
Karyl Angelu A. Borromeo leads this year’s 71 graduates of the elementary department of the university. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. (Roselia A. Borromeo of CTE-LES) Emmanuel Borromeo of Brgy. 24, Laoag City. Aside from being the valedictorian of the class, she is also the highest achiever in EPP, Filipino, science, HeKaSi, and Mathematics. She is leader of the year and recipient of the Academic and Co-curricular Excellence Awards.
Graduating as salutatorian is Louise Joy A. Martin. Others in the honor roll are: Denise Joshua A. Nacnac, first honorable mention; APJ Juliani P. Padaong, second honorable mention; and Ralph Christian V. Tomas, third honorable mention. Nacnac is also the class best in English.
Graduating \"with distinction\" are: Neil Cedric Q. Domingo, Vernice Joy M. Tanquerido, An Marguerite M. Guerrero, Franchette Mae T. Ladera, and Tzaztine A. Mabuti.
Guest speaker
Ms. Niña Corpuz Rodriguez graduated from LES. She is the daughter of lawyers Nestor Taylan Corpuz and Consuelo Fernando Corpuz and married to Vince Rodriguez who works with Studio 23, a sister company of ABS-CBN.
She is one of the newest additions to DZMM’s roster of dynamic anchors. She graduated cum laude from UP Diliman, where she finished Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication. In 2001, she began her career as a reporter for Studio 23’s News Central where she started doing feature stories, and then later on covered the Malacañang beat. She was then recruited as a TV Patrol police reporter, designated to the general assignments beat.
In 2003, Niña was diverted to the entertainment field, which then led to her co-anchoring the showbiz segment of Magandang Umaga Bayan with Ogie Diaz, Showbiz Number 1 and TV Patrol’s Star Patrol.
In 2005, she left the country as she studied International Broadcast Journalism at Cardiff University in Wales through the British Chevening scholarship.
She felt that she is more inclined to the serious side of news, and now she’s back doing hard news reports. She now anchors ANC’s Balitang Europe and two DZMM programs: Pasada Sais Trenta Sabado and Radyo Patrol Balita Linggo. She is also a contributing writer for The Philippine Star, and is also busy in her blog, niñascoops.blosgspot.com. (From dzmm.com.ph).
