Japanese profs visit MMSU

Two professors from the Shizuoka University in Japan visited MMSU to discuss the possibility of starting a new exchange program with the university.

 

On February 27, Prof. Keiko Ikeda and Prof. Lucia E. Yamamoto met University President Shirley C. Agrupis in a courtesy call.

 

They also had a discussion with the following university personnel: Dr. Marlina L. Lino, the chief of the university's Language Center; Dr. Mee Jay A. Domingo, External Linkages and Partnerships director; Prof. Henedine A. Aguinaldo, university registrar; Dr. Mark Lawrence A. Fernandez, languages and literature chairperson; Dr. Jan Rich A. Guira, student development chief; and, Ms. Danica Hanna A. Pastor, CAS planning and development coordinator.

 

In the meeting, the professors from SU stressed their plan to subject their Japanese students to English and education programs, as well as, to expose them to the Filipino society. In response, the MMSU Language Center highlighted its Special English and Intercultural Program for foreigners.

 

The Japanese professors also visited Bingao National High School, an MMSU partner institution, to observe English classes.

 

The team also visited the Laboratory Elementary School and the Laboratory High School, and they travelled to Vigan, Ilocos Sur for a cultural immersion.

 

The two Japanese professors also went to the College of Teacher Education on February 28 to discuss possible areas of cooperation.

 

In November 2018, the two universities signed a memorandum of understanding for a joint international program for their graduate and undergraduate students in the areas of education, engineering, and scientific researches in material science.
