Creating a nurturing academic environment where teachers help teachers, a professor of the Mariano Marcos State University will organize a training workshop on digital capability for teachers in January 2023. For this purpose, Prof. Jeanette Dials received a grant from the Metrobank Foundation’s Network of Outstanding Teachers and Educators, Inc. (NOTED).

With a Php 40,000.00 NOTED fund, Prof. Dials from the College of Teacher Education aims to ensure that teachers in the Ilocos Region are ready to face the challenges of blended learning.

The proposed three-day workshop aims to enable participants to develop quality e-learning solutions and reconfigure teaching and learning experiences using diverse digital platforms. Professional lecturers and trainers from the national and international academe will serve as resource speakers.

Faculty members of different state universities and colleges, teachers from the Department of Education, and pre-service teachers in Region 1 are expected to participate.

Prof. Dials will also create one repository of Open Educational Resources for pre-service teachers in Region 1, and a list of synchronous and asynchronous technological tools for teaching and learning.

The 2022 MBFI Grants is open only to Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Teacher Awardees. Prof. Dials received the recognition in 2010. 

The result was released in October this year, after almost four months of proposals deliberation.

She said in an interview, ‘’Receiving such a grant gives me a different level of fulfillment as a teacher because I crafted the proposal as a service to the community.” She also hopes the training package will also be offered to other regions, not only in the country but also in South East Asia.

The MBFI – NOTED grants were given to training proponents whose set of activities are responsive and relevant to the growth and development of teachers in the country. (APT/JVBT/HYL, StratCom)
