The ‘’Radyo Republika,” a radio news production team composed of communication students of the Mariano Marcos State University, received awards in a national radio conference organized by the Polytechnic University of the Philippines - Manila.
Aaron Zandler Guillermo, a sophomore communication student, emerged as the competition’s Best Male News Presenter in radio news production (college level).
The 5-minute radio program entry of Radyo Republika, also received the People’s Choice Award (college level), and ranked fourth among 17 entries from all over the country.
A student broadcaster, Guillermo shared that the experience was memorable, considering it was his first national competition.
“It was unexpected. I could not have done it without the support of the people around me and God. All glory to Him,” Guillermo expressed.
Joining Guillermo in the team are Ryand Ugalde (BA Communication I) and Angel Ped (BA Communication II), who served as news anchors; Nympha Borromeo (BA Communication III), scriptwriter; Jonathan Dave Ayala (BSEd English I), news presenter; Jamico Cris Jingco (BA Communication IV), in-charge of infomercial; and Casmir Remyell Cadiente (BS Civil Engineering I), technical director.
