Comm student’s photo to be featured in DAP Calendar

By Bryan R. Realgo

A senior communication student of the Mariano Marcos State University was awarded second place in the Asian Productivity Organization Vision 2025 Photography Contest organized by the Development Academy of the Philippines from October to November.

Zanel John Dumayag’s “Golden Harvest” impressed the judges, outsmarting other competitors from different schools and organizations in the country using his Samsung Galaxy A32. Dumayag depicted a farming tractor gathering matured palay grains in a rice field, in line with the competition’s theme “Innovation and Higher Productivity.”

The young photographer shared his experiences and observations growing up in an agricultural community which served as his inspiration in capturing his photo entry.

“I went for the title Golden Harvest because I believe it's the agriculture industry as the backbone of our society that must be prioritized in terms of development and innovation,” he added.

His photo, along with the top 12 finalists, will be featured as covers for the DAP 2023 desktop calendar and will also be displayed in a photo exhibit.

The national photo contest is along DAP’s mission to forward creative activities that generate pioneering, value-adding, synergistic ideas, concepts, principles, techniques, and technologies of national significance.

Dumayag also won in the 5th Ortigas Vertical Cinema Contest organized by the Ortigas Malls and the Film Development Council of the Philippines in August this year. The film he created, together with another communication student, titled ‘Trak’ was chosen as one of the Top 7 winners in the contest. (APT/JVBT/HYL, StratCom)
