The tandem of Rowell Mar Gamponia, and Jonathan Bangquil, fourth year Civil Engineering students, barged into the finals and landed at ninth place in the recently concluded 2009 National Civil Engineering Quiz Contest held September 19 at UP Diliman.

The quiz, which covers all sub disciplines of civil engineering, was organized by the UP Association of Civil Engineering Students (UPACES). Sponsored by big names in the construction industry, the whole day event brought together the brightest minds in civil engineering from all over the country. A total of 115 teams from 72 colleges and universities participated in the competition topped by the University of the Philippines Los Baños.

Engineers Nolan C. Concha and Karen Joyce B. Santiago served as coaches.
