CCIS, INPPO launch Ilocos Norte Crime Analysis and Case Monitoring System
Mariano Marcos State University–College of Computing and Information Sciences (CCIS) and the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (INPPO) launched the Ilocos Norte Crime Analysis and Case Monitoring System on June 2, 2025, at Camp Captain Valentin S. Juan in Laoag City.
Supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Ilocos Norte, under the Smart and Sustainable Communities Project, the advanced security system was designed to strengthen crime management and enhance case monitoring efficiency across the province by collecting and sharing real-time crime data, enabling quicker investigations, and supporting evidence-based decisions.
Consisting of three modules–Crime Analysis, Case Filed by Investigator on Crime, and Case Monitoring–users must log in with their accounts to ensure data security and user accountability. The initiative is led by the INPPO in partnership with MMSU CCIS and supported by the DOST.
The first module facilitates an in-depth examination of crime data at both municipal and barangay levels. It includes five sub-modules called the Dashboard, Crime Clock, Crime Map, Crime Trend, and Compare, each providing different perspectives on crime and statistics.
Meanwhile, the second module tracks and evaluates each investigator's performance based on the number and status of cases they handle, categorizing the cases into three statuses: cleared, solved, and under investigation.
Regarding case monitoring, it offers investigators, chiefs, and INPPO a real-time overview of the status and progress of cases from filing to resolution.
Dr. Fides Bernardo Bitanga, vice president for administration, finance, and business, who represented the university president, emphasized that the technology will help police personnel identify and respond to crimes faster.
“At MMSU, we believe that knowledge must not only reside in classrooms or labs. It must reach the streets, the homes, and the lives of the people we serve,” Dr. Bitanga stated.
Present at the launch were CCIS Dean Saturnina Nisperos, along with faculty members Eloihim Baculpo and Ralph Perdido, DOST Provincial Director Brian Rasco, and INPPO officials and personnel.
