CBEA, COE still biggest colleges
BASED on June 25 records obtained from the Registrar’s Office, MMSU has, by far, an overall enrolment of 14,882 this semester, marking a 1.60 percent increase from last year’s figures.
There was a 4.56 percent rise in the undergraduate level which has 13,261 registrants, up from last year’s 12,683. As in previous years, CBEA continues to enjoy the biggest enrolment of 2,935 or 22.13 percent of the total undergraduate population, closely followed by COE with 2,826 (21.31%), and then by CAFSD – 1,846 (13.92%); CIT – 1,685 (12.70%); CTE – 1,547 (11.66%); CHS – 1,169 (8.81%); CAS – 998 (7.52%); and CASAT – 255 (1.92:).
Among the colleges, CASAT posted the highest enrolment increase of 27.50 percent, followed by COE with 9.66 percent, CAFSD (6.15%), CBEA (5.69%), and CIT (4.53%). A slight enrolment drop was seen at CTE (-2.46%), CAS (-1.19), and CHS (-1.10).
Three hundred fifty-six enlisted in the Graduate School while the College of Law has 60 enrolees. The newly launched College of Medicine has 13 recruits so far.
In addition, the laboratory schools in Laoag and Batac have a combined enrolment of 1,205. To date, the short-term programs offered by CTE only have 22 registrants.
For the past many years and until now, the BS Industrial Technology program has attracted the biggest number of enrolees (1,165), but not far behind is the BS Agriculture program which has seen an enrolment spike in recent years. The flagship program at CAFSD now has 985 enrolees, 18.53 percent up from last year. Other programs with enrolment of at least 500 are: B Elementary Education (872), B Secondary Education (675), BS Civil Engineering (648), BS Hospitality Management (628), BS Electrical Engineering (581), and BSBA Marketing Management (551).
