BJMP hails MMSU for extension programs

The MMSU Extension Directorate bagged another recognition for its relentless support to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) bestowed by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) of the City of Batac. The recognition was given because of MMSU's efforts in uplifting the lives of the PDLs through the implementation of various programs and projects.

The Certificate of Recognition was received by the Director of the Extension Office, Dr. Aris Reynold V. Cajigal last October 28. The awarding was part of the celebration of the Service Providers' Day with the theme: Changing Lives, Building a Safer Nation.

"The MMSU Extension Directorate is honoured to receive this Certificate of Appreciation that recognized its efforts to help the PDLs with livelihood ventures that will help them in them financially once they will be freed from jail", Dr. Cajigal said.

Programs given to BJMP were Bamboo Processing, Dragon Fruit Production, Nursery Establishment, and Oyster Mushroom Production.

At present, the Oyster Mushroom Production at BJMP-Batac is an active income-generating activity of the inmates and their families. The BJMP-Batac will also open its gate to serve the public through its Bolinao Chicken Breeder House. This project is in partnership with the program on Technology Transfer and Partnership with Private Sector towards Sustainable Production of Bolinao Chicken funded by DOST-PCAARRD.

With the nurtured partnership, Dr. Cajigal said that 'the inspiration also comes from the happiness that we have seen from the faces of the persons deprived of liberty, especially those who are actively involved in the project, because we have observed that their attitude and behaviour toward the project is very positive."

"We are optimistic that what they learn will be applied once they will get out from the jail," he added, assuring that the award will inspire the staff of the MMSU Extension Directorate to work more seriously and to do more so that we will give the best extension services to various clientele.
