<STRONG><FONT face=Verdana size=5>Biology graduate is 2008 TOSP awardee </FONT></STRONG>
JANILL Ignacio Magano, a B.S. Biology magna cum laude graduate of 2008, has been awarded as one of the 2008 Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) in ceremonies held at the Malacañang Palace, July 17. No less than President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo presented the awards.
President Miriam E. Pascua also received a certificate of recognition for MMSU from the TOSP National Executive Committee in gratitude of the university’s contribution to the success of the 2008 TOSP National Program.
Magano is the lone student from Region I who made it to the 30 national finalists who were evaluated and screened from among more than 300 student nominees from 350 schools in the Philippines. As a national finalist, he attended a program of activities in Manila last July 11-18. The activities included a TOSP Reformation Program that focused on the challenges of nation building with the goal of developing a TOSP community.
Magano is a resident of Brgy. Salbang, Paoay, Ilocos Norte and is the son of Henry and Genevieve Magano, a faculty member of the College of Agriculture and Forestry. He was a member of the Student in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Team who entered as semi- finalist in the SIFE World Cup in Paris, France in 2006. He was also one of the 12 Bayer Young Environmental Envoys of the Philippines in 2007. He was a consistent academic scholar; served as Central Student Council officer in 2005; and was president of the Biological Circle in 2006. Magano is now in his first year of medicine at the Far Eastern University in Manila.

Delarmente – University of the Philippines Manila (NCR); Richardson E. Navor – University of the East (NCR); and Zakariya T. Muripaga – Mindanao State University, Marawi City (ARMM).
The search was founded by Jose Concepcion and spearheaded by the RFM Corporation in cooperation with National Bookstore, Commission on Higher Education, and the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company.
