BEEd cum laude grad lands 9th in LET

COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION – Ivy Dancel Rosete, a Bachelor of Elementary Education cum laude graduate of Class 2014, landed ninth in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) held in Manila last Aug. 17.

Garnering a rating of 87.60 percent, Rosete gave a remarkable leap for the college to maintain its excellent performance since it was recognized by CHED as Center of Excellence for Teacher Education.

A resident of Badoc, Ilocos Norte, Rosete is the eldest daughter of Allan, a farmer, and Anelyn, a public elementary school teacher. She was a prolific writer and leader in her elementary and high school years. In college, she was actively involved in various co-curricular activities while serving as mayor in her section, and as officer in various class organizations.

Joining Rosete in the list of successful passers from CTE are 181 new elementary teachers and 116 new secondary teachers. This garnered a 77.35 percent passing rate for BEEd and 66.29 percent for BSE. Both courses surpassed the national passing rate of 35.74 percent for the elementary LET and 34.40 percent for the secondary LET.

“This success did not come by fate; it is all because of my faith in God,” Rosete said as she thanked the MMSU community, especially her mentors who constantly reminded her to always keep her feet on the ground.

Rosete is planning to apply at MMSU or at DepEd and plans to pursue an advance degree in education.

Meanwhile, the Professional Regulation Commission and the Board for Professional Teachers announced that for this year, 25,301 out of the 70,786 examinees passed the LET for elementary teachers, while 26,767 out of the 77,803 examinees passed the LET for secondary school teachers.

Of the 25,301 new elementary teachers, 21,649 are first time LET takers, while the rest are repeaters. Of the new secondary school teachers, 23,820 are first timers, while 2,947 are repeaters.
