All 2016 grads pass pharmacist exam
The MMSU Department of Pharmacy has a unique reason to celebrate this summer. All of its 52 BS in Pharmacy graduates, Class 2016 passed the Pharmacist Licensure Examination conducted on March 9-10.
Prof. Aileen Camangeg, chair of the Department of Pharmacy, reported that there were 61 MMSU graduates who actually took the test but only 54 of them made it, thus registering an institutional passing rate of 88.52 percent. Of the 61 takers, 53 were first timers and eight were repeaters.
The lucky examinees were among the 2,246 passers out of the 3,737 who took the test administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Davao, and Iloilo.
“The first timers registered a passing rate of 98.11 percent,” said Prof. Camangeg adding that only two from the eight repeaters who belonged to the previous batches of graduates made it. “This result catapulted MMSU to the 6th place in the prestigious roster of top performing schools of pharmacy in the county,” she added.
Last year, MMSU captured a back-to-back performance as the number two top performing pharmacy school in the country, the same reputation it held in 2015.
“We are satisfied with the remarkable result. This proves that we are at par with the country’s best schools offering the BS Pharmacy program,” said Prof. Camangeg.
The other top-performing schools are: UP Manila, first; SLU, 2nd; San Pedro College- Davao, 3rd; UST, 4th; University of San Carlos, 5th; Our Lady of Fatima-Quezon City, 7th; and University of San Agustin, 8th.
