Seven Indonesian students have commenced their internship at MMSU College of Teacher Education today, October 8, as part of the SEA Teacher Student Exchange Project.
Two are from Universitas PGRI Semarang, two are from Universitas Pekalongan, and three are from Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS). They were accompanied by UMS Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Mauly Halwat Hikmat; Vice Dean for Finance, Dr. Murfiah Dewi Wulandri; and Director for Innovation Learning Center, Dr. Koesoemo Ratih.
The SEA Teacher Student Exchange Project aims to enhance the educational collaboration of pre-service student teachers across Southeast Asia, promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding among participating nations. Students will engage in teaching and learning activities that benefit their professional development and enrich the educational environment at MMSU.
MMSU OIC President Dr. Prima Fe R. Franco welcomed the Indonesian students at the Ferdinand E. Marcos hall and expressed her enthusiasm for this international exchange. “As these young educators immerse themselves in the teaching profession, they will enrich their own learning experience and also contribute to academic excellence,” she said.
Under the supervision of Dr. Mee Jay Domingo, director of internationalization, linkages, and partnerships, Prof. Jeanette Dials, chief of international faculty and student mobility, and Prof. Fe Erlinda Ibalio, CTE planning, and development coordinator, the Indonesian students will undergo cultural immersions and handle various classes in the University Laboratory Schools under the guidance of their coordinating teachers. The next batch of students is expected to join by November this year.
The SEA Teacher Project, in collaboration with the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization, focuses on improving quality education in Southeast Asia and strengthening teacher capacity.
