<B><P><FONT face=Verdana size=5>4 faculty scholars finish graduate studies</FONT></P></B>
FOUR FACULTY members who went for graduate studies under the University Manpower Development Program (UMDP) finished their respective degrees last month.
Dr. Veronica O. Grande of the College of Aquatic Sciences and Applied Technology earned a Ph.D. in Aquaculture from the Central Luzon State University, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija. Her doctor’s dissertation, \"Ecology, reproductive periodicity, and management measures of sea cucumber fishery in Ilocos Norte, Philippines,\" was funded in part by a CHED dissertation grant.
Also, three faculty members capped their studies in the field of mathematics at the MMSU Graduate School after defending their respective special problems.
Emely P. Tanagon of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) did \"An investigation of the fibonacci cubes\" that led to her completion of Master of Science in Mathematics.
Liliwa A. Olalo, also from CAS, was conferred the MS in Mathematics after working on the special problem, \"Decycling the hypercube\".
Marie Paz P. Padaong of the Laboratory High School in Laoag earned the Master of Arts in Mathematics. Her special problem was \"On Eulerian numbers\".
Tanagon, Olalo, and Padaong pursued their graduate studies under the CHED Pilot Project for Faculty Development Program.
At present, 47 faculty and staff are pursuing graduate, postgraduate, and short-term studies in MMSU and other well-regarded universities under scholarships from CHED, DOST, SEARCA, PCARRD, Fulbright, Matsumae International Foundation of Japan, and the Confucius Institute, People’s Republic of China.
