Three instructors of the MMSU College of Health Sciences (CHS) joined the online World Physiotherapy Congress (WPC) spearheaded by the World Confederation of Physical Therapy (WCPT) last April 9-11.

Ms. Ruth Anne Claricel P. Batin, Ms. Chariss M. Macalma, and Ms. Marilou J. Raval of the CHS Department of Physical Therapy were among the 25 Filipino physical therapists who presented their research studies in the congress.

Batin presented her qualitative study about the “Integration of Flipped Learning in Neurologic Physical Therapy” and her systematic review on “The Effectiveness of Virtual Reality in Cardiac Rehabilitation.”

Meanwhile, Macalma shared her study on the “Factors Influencing Perceived Clinical Decision-Making Skills in Stroke Rehabilitation among Physical Therapy Interns of Ilocos Norte, Philippines.”

Also, Raval discussed her research on the “Correlation between Mild Cognitive Impairment and the Presence of Home Hazards and History of Falls among Community-Dwelling Older Persons.”

With their participation, the MMSU-CHS instructors were given free access to all the outputs and products of the congress for three months.

The online platform served as avenue for the faculty to meet with experts and colleagues around the world, exchange and share innovations and ideas, and discuss implications across research, education, management, policy, and clinical practice.

Conducted every two years, the WPC is the largest international scientific congress among the community of PT professionals.

Founded in 1951, the WCPT is the sole international voice for physiotherapy, representing more than 660,000 physiotherapists worldwide through its 125 member-organizations. (StratCom)
