Dr. Jean Anne Pfautz, an English Language Specialist of the U.S. State Department and the current English language coordinator for Charlottesville City Schools in Virginia, has recently visited Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) to share her expertise at a teacher training workshop on reading intervention program and materials development.

This two-day event was organized by the College of Arts and Sciences - Department of Languages and Literature at MMSU. They collaborated with the Internationalization, Linkages, and Partnerships office and the American Corner to host the training at the MMSU - Center for Flexible Learning from July 18-19.

In the workshop, participants had the opportunity to delve into an array of topics, including Literacy Development, Assessment and Instruction, Components of a Reading Intervention Program, Designing a Reading Intervention Program at Secondary Schools, and Creating Sources for a Reading Intervention Program.

While MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis was in Japan for an official business trip, Vice President for planning and development, Engr Ami Ruth R Cocson, represented her and expressed her appreciation to Dr. Pfautz for helping enhance the professional capabilities of the MMSU faculty. Dr. Marivic M. Alimbuyuguen, CAS dean, expressed hopes that from their learnings from the training, participants would be able to level up their work in instruction. (HLY, StratCom)
