OIC appoints new chiefs

Dr. Prima Fe R. Franco, officer-in-charge, has designated new chiefs for agricultural production and sports.

Mario Remolacio, of the Research Directorate has been named as agricultural production chief while Clarence Ordonia, instructor at the Laboratory High School (Batac Campus) in Batac was assigned as sports chief.

Remolacio, who replaced Dr. Jaime T. Salazar, now supervises the university’s food production projects in swine, livestock, pomology, horticulture, and of the two staple grains – rice and corn.

As the former assistant project leader of retired MMSU vice president for external linkages Heraldo L. Layaoen on the university’s yardlong malunggay project, Remolacio is committed in the promotion and expansion of the said project to benefit those who may want to plant the tree for commercial purposes.

He continues the responsibility of his predecessor in overseeing the 12-hectare rice production project located in composite areas in the main campus that are planted with high-yielding varieties of rice.

As chief, he conducts managerial responsibilities of the different agricultural projects and sees visible results for their efforts. Among other things, his responsibilities include making policy decisions, maintaining accurate production records, organising sales and purchases of livestock, farm equipment, crops and agricultural products, keeping administrative records, and supervising farm workers to make sure that their work progresses satisfactorily.

On the other hand, Ordonia, who replaced Prof. Floresto Franco Jr. of CAS, handles the sports activities of MMSU and coordinates the scheduling of officiating officials during college intramurals and university games, while performing a number of administrative duties that pertains to sports activities.

Among other things, his role is to foster, promote and develop sports in the university system and in the regional and national levels within the bounds of SCUAA. He crafts programs that uphold the value of physical fitness and realizes the objectives of the university’s sports program.

The MMSU sports chief should be an expert of the rules and regulations of all sports events so that he can provide technical expertise and advise to athletes, coaches, and officiating officials during the conduct of any sports activity. Ordonia is a multi-awarded coach in basketball.
